Overview
The Copy Optimizer analyzes your existing content — a webpage, an email, an ad, or social copy — and rewrites it to improve SEO performance and relevance to your target audience. The output includes an optimized meta title, meta description, and full content rewrite, along with persona-specific variants if you attach an ICP profile.
Go to SEO → Copy Optimizer to get started.
Optimization runs asynchronously. You’ll see a real-time progress bar while the AI processes your content — typically completing in under a minute.
Step 1: Choose Content Type
Select the type of content you’re optimizing:
| Content Type | Best For |
|---|
| Page SEO | Website pages, landing pages, blog posts |
| Email | Cold outreach, nurture sequences, newsletters |
| Ad Copy | Paid search, display, or social ads |
| Social Media | LinkedIn, Twitter/X, or other social posts |
The content type shapes how the AI frames the optimization — Page SEO output includes meta tags and heading structure, while Email output focuses on subject line and body copy.
Step 2: Add Target Keywords
Type your target keywords into the keyword input field. You can add multiple keywords — press comma or space to add each one as a tag.
The optimizer uses these keywords to:
- Ensure they appear naturally in the rewritten content
- Improve keyword density without stuffing
- Align headings and meta tags to the search terms you care about
Step 3: Attach an ICP Profile (Optional)
Select an ICP Profile from your workspace to generate persona-specific content variants.
When an ICP is attached, the optimizer produces a separate content version for each persona defined in that profile — each version tuned to the language, pain points, and motivations of that specific buyer type.
Use persona variants when optimizing landing pages that serve multiple audience segments. You get one optimization job with multiple outputs, ready to A/B test or deploy to segmented audiences.
Step 4: Choose a Content Source
Select how you want to provide the content to be optimized:
Manual Entry
Paste or type your content directly into the text area. Best for drafts, short-form copy, or content you have locally.
URL
Enter a webpage URL. GTM Suite fetches the page content automatically — no copy-pasting required. Best for optimizing existing published pages.
Document Upload
Upload a file containing your content. Useful for optimizing documents, long-form drafts, or assets not yet published online.
Step 6: Run the Optimizer
Click Optimize Copy. The job is submitted and a progress bar appears tracking the AI analysis in real time.
Progress states:
| State | Meaning |
|---|
| Pending | Job queued |
| Processing | AI is analyzing and rewriting |
| Completed | Results are ready |
| Failed | An error occurred — retry the submission |
Reading the Results
When the job completes, results appear below the form:
The optimized page title with a character count indicator. Aim for 50–60 characters for best search display.
The optimized meta description with a character count indicator. Aim for 150–160 characters.
Optimized Content
The full rewritten content displayed in a rich text editor. You can:
- Read and review the output inline
- Edit the content directly in the editor
- Copy the full text to your clipboard with one click
Persona-Specific Variants
If an ICP profile was attached, a separate tab or section appears for each persona with its own tailored version of the content. Each variant adapts the tone, terminology, and emphasis to match that buyer’s motivations and language.
Tips for Better Results
Be specific with keywords. Broad terms like “marketing” produce weaker optimization than specific phrases like “B2B marketing automation for SaaS.”
Use Detailed depth for important pages. Basic is fine for quick passes on lower-priority content. Use Detailed for your highest-traffic pages or campaign landing pages.
Attach an ICP for campaign content. If you’re writing for a specific campaign targeting a known persona, attaching the ICP keeps the output grounded in your actual buyer’s language rather than generic marketing copy.
Review before publishing. The optimizer produces strong starting points, but always review for brand voice, accuracy, and any product-specific details the AI can’t know.
Troubleshooting
Job stuck on “Processing” for more than 2 minutes
- Refresh the page — if the job completed, results will load automatically
- If still pending, resubmit the job
Results don’t reflect my keywords
- Ensure keywords are added as tags (press comma or space after each one)
- For URL-based input, confirm the URL is publicly accessible and the page loads correctly
No persona variants appeared
- Check that your selected ICP profile has at least one persona defined
- Ensure the Generate AI Recommendation checkbox is enabled
Content output looks generic
- Add more specific keywords and attach an ICP profile to ground the output in your audience’s context
- Switch from Basic to Detailed analysis depth
